Cebu Resort Trip: Plantation Bay Resort & Spa

ResortScape at Plantation

The laid-back view of Plantation Bay Resort

Exciting times at Plantation Bay Resort as we (with my partner in life, charlung!) have spent just a day to recuperate from a super “uber” backbreaking competition of the outside world. Quite a phrase you say, but we did enjoy our day tour. So much activities being offered for kids and adults, sweet couples (like us) and extended families. In the future, we would really love to get back here and probably stay for a night.

Plantation Bay Resort - no sugary introductions needed, nothin' more I can say! The place is truly marvelous. I’d give it more than thumbs up!

LOCATION

Plantation Bay Resort and Spa is set in about 11.4 hectares of secluded grounds and situated at Marigondon, Mactan Island Cebu. The resort is very accessible.

Travel time from Cebu City would take about 45 minutes to an hour (traffic varies). From the Mactan Cebu International Airport, taxi cabs could take you to this place for a flag-down rate of Php30.00. Or take the airport taxi cabs (in yellow) for a Php60.00 flag-down rate. But why bother commuting? If you’ve already made prior booking, just contact Plantation Bay Resort & Spa and inform them of your exact arrival date and time. The resort has a Shuttle Service for their guests free of charge. Check out their website at www.plantationbay.com to learn more.

THE RESORT

Plantation Bay Resort & Spa is one of those high-end resorts in Lapu-Lapu, the historic resort city, with open reception area. This was our first time to visit Plantation Bay and we decided to just have a day tour.

We approached the front desk officer and she gladly accommodated us. The rate though was kind of expensive since we went there on a weekend, Php2, 500 per adult. On weekdays the rate would be about Php2, 000. Nevertheless, it already included the use of their lagoons and swimming pools, the beach area, lunch buffet, free towel, and use of bicycle (30 minutes) and use of kayak (15 minutes).

There were more things to do too, at the Savannah Park like archery, firing range, wall climbing, etc. Anyways, the lady at the receiving area gave us a few instructions/reminders about the resort and also provided us a map to know where we were and where we would want to go.

We were a little bit excited to explore the place. And to our surprise, Plantation Bay was quite vast. We were confused at first where to start since every bit of a corner we saw was very “photographable” and we wanted to take every single photo of it.

The moment we stepped inside, a huge lagoon-style pool stretched out in our very eyes. We looked to our right side then to the left and all we saw was a path leading somewhere around the resort. To our right we moved then, and with the map in our hands we eventually get the hang of it.

The place was an eye catcher. Not so many people yet which meant complete “photo-bomber free” camera works. It was indeed ideal to come here in the morning. We arrived 8AM, few folks roaming around, and a perfect time to enjoy the ambiance of the place. Koreans and Japanese were among the common foreign nationals that were at Plantation Bay and were having sun bathe that morning.

With all those walking while the lovely lagoon pool was calling us to dip already, our stomach grumbled. We need B-Fast, and fast! We headed to Kilimanjaro CafĂ© for our first meal of the day. This wasn’t part of the Day Tour Package, we paid extra for it. The food was fine, it was yummy! But we just couldn’t wait to swim!

And off we go!

First try of their stand-up paddle and kayak
We tried the standing paddle and the kayak. It was funny at first since we weren’t synchronized in paddling. Our paddles went opposite sides. But with further tries, we found our rhythm. It was so cool!

The resort had a drinking bar flanking by the pool area and also a Jacuzzi type pool which was very fun. As a matter of fact we enjoyed hanging around there so much that we stayed there for a while. The beach area, on the other hand, was not too great. But the resort does have water activities and island tours being offered to guests.

There were still a lot of things to do around the resort. We weren't able to try archery and the firing range due to time constraints. But we did try biking around the area. And to our amazement, Plantation Bay was really big. You wouldn’t feel claustrophobic unlike other resorts wherein the moment guests would start to swarm around you would then feel like the whole place started to shrink.

The Savannah Park on the other hand was a different world. It was like a mini park for kids and kids at heart to enjoy. You can have fun with their mini golf, tryout the hover board; play at the children’s playground, etc.

One word – PLAY!
It was a fun day and very relaxing. We needed it.
A little fun wouldn't hurt!

Plantation Bay Resort and Spa is indeed a must-see destination in Mactan Cebu. We enjoyed our day tour, so would you!

‘Till next time then.
Ciao!
