SUN SEA SAND
The
power of the glorious sun was undoubtedly remarkable. As its rays touched our
tanned skin, its heat vigor us and fills our mood with a total bliss. That’s
what we got when we reached the grounds of Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort and
Spa. It was just a day tour but was packed with gazillion energy from the
mighty sun.
LOCATION
Bluewater
Maribago Beach Resort and Spa was located at Buyong Rd , Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City ,
the historic resort city and approximately 20 minutes away from Mactan Cebu
International Airport .
Getting here was very easy. From the airport’s arrival area, taxi cabs (in
white, with Php30.00 flag-down rate) and airport taxi cabs (in yellow, with
Php60.00 flag-down rate) were readily available to take you to the resort. A shuttle
service of the resort could also be used if you did made prior arrangements.
Bluewater
Maribago Beach Resort and Spa was established in July of 1989. This one here at
Mactan, which was approximately 7 hectares, was one of the three chain resorts
of the Bluewater Resorts group – proudly Filipino! The other resorts were
Bluewater Sumilon and Bluewater Panglao. Visit their website at www.bluewatermaribago.com.ph
for more details.
THE
RESORT
We
availed of the day tour package which included a buffet lunch, use of the pool
and their beach area. Normally their day tour rate was Php 2,000.00 per person.
Luckily, there was an on-going promo and with that we got a discount.
It
was our first visit to the resort. The receiving area was light, not too
spacious. There were couches at the corners to serve the guests. We were
attended very well by the front desk officer and we got everything needed to
proceed to our day tour.
The
sun was shining splendidly high above the light blue sky. We love the beach
area. It was perfect for swimming. The sand was fine, doesn’t hurt on your
feet. The shore was superb. The view was great. The resort’s guests were a mix
of foreign and Filipino. It was a lovely day!
To
refresh ourselves, we headed to Oyster Bar and the Cove at the corner of the
beach area and grabbed some ice cold drink. The ambiance was great to just chill
out and enjoy the sunny weather.
Guests
could also enjoy water sport activities. Just check out their in-house water
sport guide, the Aquamania, and try all sorts of water activities.
Bluewater Maribago Resort and Spa has a man-made
island, about 1.1 hecatre, just across the beach area. We decided to go there
before noontime. We rode a banca going there and it took about 2-3 minutes to
reach the famed island.
Small
huts were placed here to give little shade for guests. Fewer crowds too and you
can really enjoy your dip in the water. The ambiance was nice, a perfect spot
for those surprise proposals and exclusive romantic celebrations.
The
pristine white sand of the resort’s private island was so inviting. We were
lucky there were no private functions held at that time which was why we were
able to explore the island. Few couples were already there having their sweet
lone time where as we were there to enjoy the beach!
We
went back to the main beach around 12noon for we were a bit hungry. We enjoyed
a feast, a buffet served near Allegro Restaurant. I thought the food tasted
fine but it can do better. I got a little bit of everything and I only picked a
few of the desserts.
At
times, Allegro Restaurant would over themed buffets. You may check out their
website to know more about their delightful offerings.
It
was a satisfying lunch. Afterwards we continued to explore the resort; we
dipped into the pool nearby Allegro, grab a few snacks in between, played the
life-sized chess by the shore and just enjoyed the day.
Well,
that was about our day tour!
Pretty
exciting and I’m sure more things could be done here if we did stay for a
night. Overall, our experience was superb.
‘Till
next time.
Ciao!!
