Cebu Trip: Papa Kit's Marina Fishing Lagoon

SUNDAYS AT PAPA KIT’S

To Fishing and Adventure

What to do on a Sunday?

Hmm, since both of us were on rest day we wanted to take a spin around the northern part of the city. After attending mass and taking breakfast, our day officially started. A stroll around Liloan would be just fine. A little fishing activity would be perfect. A fun zipline would be great too. And heading to Papa Kit’s Marina Fishing Lagoon was definitely the right choice.
Ready to fish!

LOCATION

Papa Kit’s Marina Fishing Lagoon, approximately 92 hectares, was situated at Poblacion Liloan, Cebu and also one of the properties of Menca Development Corporation. The other properties include Estaca Bay Garden Conference Resort and Nalusuan Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary. Check their website at www.papakitsmarina.com for more details.

Coming from Cebu City, travel time would take about an hour (traffic varies). I would suggest visiting here by private vehicle. It would be comfortable and hassle free rather than commuting. You could take the Highway Mandaue route or via Cansaga Bridge to avoid traffic.

Coming from Mactan Cebu International Airport, taxi cabs with Php30.00 flag-down rate could take you to this place. Airport yellow taxis with Php60.00 flag-down rate were also available at the arrival area.

FISHING TIME

It was our first visit to Papa Kit’s Marina Fishing Lagoon. It wasn’t hard to find at all. The main entrance was very ordinary. You need to go inside in order to appreciate the beauty of the place. We were lucky to still avail of their promo which was only Php 500.00 per person which included the entrance fee, 15 minute horseback ride, zipline, hanging bridge, meal (for breakfast or lunch), and the feeds for fishing and rod (fish caught though wasn’t free). Oh yes, fishes were for sale.

It was also our first time to do fishing. We kind of had difficulty in figuring out how to use the fishing rod. We didn’t ask for assistance because we wanted to do it ourselves. But then their staff was very polite and offered to help. We kind of got the rhythm in using the rod but then another problem arises. We can’t get a fish! We looked at the other side and the folks there were pretty much enjoying their catch. Good thing “kuya” here was kind enough to help us out. Fishes were attracted to loud noises so the trick was to make some noise.

First fishy caught for the day.

We pounded loudly the bamboo from our cottage with a small piece of rock to lure these fishes to us. And just like that our fishing day began. We got around 10 fishes (all bangus) and “kuya” gladly took care of it.

We got burned! The sun was so hot. What a long day!

"Bangus"

Papa Kit’s Marina Fishing Lagoon has a vast area. Their activities weren’t located in just one spot. Like other adventure parks, activities were situated in different areas so guests can fully explore the place. There were still a lot of things that can be done here but for now, we were fairly satisfied.

After fishing we began another worthwhile activity which was the hanging bridge. The bridge was suspended up above, not really that high so kids can still enjoy it. Though we had tried hanging bridge in different adventure parks in the country, the ones here at Papa Kit’s still have that kind of fun feeling for kids at heart like us to be glad about.

The Hanging Bridge

And so we cross!

Then we tried the Zip Zone. Exciting times for my partner here ‘coz this will be his first ride.
Time to conquer one’s fear!

Selfie for good luck!

There were debates whether to go or not to go. But I’m glad my partner had the guts to finally overcome his fear of heights.

View from the top

Papa Kit’s Marina Fishing Lagoon has room accommodations for those coming from foreign places and just wanted to chill and crash for the night. We didn’t have the chance to check it out but we did ride a horse. And it was also our first time to try horseback ride. Everything was a first here! Just fun!

In those 15 minutes we enjoyed our ride. Our guide also taught us few tricks on how to pleasantly ride a horse. It was nice. I felt nervous at first since it was my first time but eventually I got the hang of it. And maybe I’ll own a horse someday. Who knows I would have a ranch! Dreams…

Sundays were always best spent with the people dear to you.
‘Till next time.

Ciao!
