Cebu South Trip: Fantasy Lodge at Samboan Part 2

Staycation at Samboan

Morning feels…

After a three hour bus ride from Cebu City, we crashed to our bed first to regain strength. We already had a full breakfast so it was time for a nap. The place was quiet. With a room without television, one could simply enjoy the sound of the crashing waves and the chirping of the birds.

Morning delight

It was almost 1100H when we woke up. The sun was up and we were ready to explore Fantasy Lodge Resort. We prepped ourselves for endless photo ops. We took pictures of almost every corner of the resort. Since the place was small we didn’t have any trouble exploring it.

Moments by the pool

Fuel up our day…
We were lucky that there were only few guests present at the time we took photos. We enjoyed a “photo bomber free” camera works. And all these photo sessions made our stomach rumble. We had our lunch at their restaurant. We tried their pasta and my bf instantly favored the carbonara dish. The fried chicken also tasted alright. The price of the food was a bit expensive though. They could lower it down somehow.

Light lunch

“Kawa” Experience…
As mentioned on my first post, the resort offers the famous “Kawa” hot bath. I was so excited to try it. On the resorts website it indicated that the kawa hot bath would last 45 minutes in a 40 degree heat with aromatic oils and flowers. We did schedule our kawa hot bath after lunch. When we went there, the staff already prepped our bath filled with the wonderful aroma of calming oils. The fire beneath the kawa was still burning. It looked like we’re gonna be cooked. I was super excited. After all, this was the main reason why we were here. We then changed our clothes and got ready.

Burnin' hot!

Fantasy Lodge has only two (2) big kawa. It was perfectly positioned in view of the calming sea. I could now see why reservation was needed. Aside from a limited number of “kawa”, the area itself was small. The first dip was shocking. It was hot and I mean hot! I didn’t expect it to be that hot. I was assuming that the heat would be tolerable for my skin. It took a while for my body to adjust to the hot temperature. My bf on the other hand seemed to be comfortable with it. Their staff started putting gumamela flowers and leaves on our individual kawa to add to the drama.

Enjoyin' the hotness!
First dip.
A reward that's worth it.
The staff then took “photographable/instagramable” shots with our own camera. He was on business. He seemed to know the perfect angle. His shots were nice and would definitely draw curiosity to anyone who would view it.

Lovin' life.
Livin' life.
After sometime I started to feel the hotness again. The staff put the fire off and turned open the faucet against the wall right where the kawa was to release cold water so as to balance off the temperature. My bf couldn’t take the hotness anymore and got off for a moment. Our skin suddenly turned tan, soft and silky because of the oil. It felt like we’re cooked “well done” like a steak. I was happy and satisfied, though I wished the kawa wasn’t too hot. We could’ve stayed longer and finished the 45 minute duration. I think we only lasted around 20-30 minutes. For the remaining time, we just took more photos.

More relaxation…
We went to their pool and continued swimming. That afternoon a number of guests started to arrive. The resort was filled with groups of people. There was no duty life guard that would watch over the guests who would swim. We were responsible for our own actions. And indeed we were. It was actually ironic. We so love beaching and yet we don’t know how to swim. The pool was too deep for us. We didn’t enjoy much. We stayed alongside the pool, the only spot where our feet could land.

Sea delight!
Money talks…
To sum up our expenses:

500
Kawa
900 (450 each)
