Bohol Trip: Alona Beach

The White Sand Stretch of Alona Beach

Alona Beach – a household name across the Visayas region especially in the island of Panglao, Bohol. I have been to Bohol few times back then but this visit was a first together with my awesome “boyf”. This trip was one of those I considered to be laidback and a pure beach appreciation and total relaxation.

Alona Beach. Pure Bliss.

LOCATION

Alona Beach is situated at Panglao, Island, Bohol, home to the famous “Tarsier” – commonly called the world’s smallest monkey. The island of Bohol is simply amazing. It is laidback, rich in history, marine life, and blessed with great people. The white sand stretch of Alona Beach is one of the many things Bohol is proud of. People from neighboring regions come here to relax and enjoy nature’s wonder.

Direct flights from Manila fly to Tagbilaran, the capital city of Bohol. From the Tagbilaran Airport, you can visit the tourist information counter for assistance in getting transportation service to get to Panglao. It would take about 45 minutes to an hour to arrive at Panglao Island. It would be a lot easier though to contact the resort/hotel you were booked since most of them provide free transportation service, some with a minimal fee.

If you come from Cebu City, like us, fast crafts going to Tagbilaran are available every certain hour. Travel time would take about 2 hours to get to Tagbilaran port. Ocean jet and Weesam are among the fast craft companies that cater Cebu-Tagbilaran-Cebu route. Just head to Cebu Port Pier 1 and make your booking. We made ours in advance to avail of a discounted rate. Check your preferred fast craft company’s website for more details on ticket prices.

Outside Tagbilaran port, travel agencies/operators were there offering transportation services around Bohol. You can negotiate with them or you can simply contact your resort/hotel to pick you up. We did contact our hotel. And it was hassle-free.

We stayed at Alona Vida Coco Vida Beach Resort Bar and Restaurant. We made a booking through “agoda” and the rate we got was quite cheap. The reviews stated on trip advisor were pretty alright too, that was why we chose here. The resort was strategically located beach front and it has a swimming pool and a restaurant - a budget-friendly resort.

Overview of Alona Vida Coco Vida hotel
Our room was quite nice, not really that lavish, just simple with a few wooden displays and modern interiors. We were at the 2nd floor near their restaurant. At night a band would play until dawn and the sound of it could be slightly heard inside our room. Not that we bother, but if you are a light sleeper, I suggest you get a room near the pool which was a little far from the restaurant.

We had our B-fast at Coco Vida. Our food was sumptuous! I could still feel the crispiness of the bacon in my throat and the sweet smell of the coffee and the tea still lingered. It was a perfect breakfast to fuel up our day.

Numerous restobars and cafes could be found alongside the white beach. You would never run out of choices. We tried all the goodies, from fruit shakes, buko juice, pasta, pizza, and many other interesting flavors.

Buko by the beach.
At night, restaurant owners apply different techniques in order to draw people to dine and taste their food. If you love seafood, surely you would be amazed on the variations of sea creatures that could be cooked to your liking.

The beautiful white sand beach of Alona is about 1.5 km stretch. A good morning exercise would be to walk around the area from point to point. Different resort/hotels were also situated along the beach area. Most of it offer island hopping activities and diving packages for those diving enthusiasts.

One of the high end beach resorts at Alona was the Henann Beach Resort. The place was pretty nice inside and out. We didn’t go inside the resort although you can actually go there and take a peek. We just took few poses with their huge hotel name sign along the beach area.

Strolling around the white sandy beach of Alona with the sun shining upon us was totally refreshing. As the wind blew towards us, the feeling was incredibly blissful. Summer never ends as they say.

We also did our own version of the famous couple pose that has been circling around Instagram. Baaam!

Love is...
Just like Boracay Island, one of the popular beach destinations in the Philippines, Alona Beach also possesses that distinct quality of a tropical island paradise that people from all over the world were looking for. It’s a perfect sun, sea, sand combo with a touch of a nightlife thrill.

So if you prefer the “chillaxing” soft party mood of Alona, this place would be suitable for you. If not, you always have the option to stay on the other side of Panglao Island were it also boast of a pristine white sand stretch less the inviting dance tunes that can be heard all over Alona.

Everything about Alona Beach is wonderful. We would very much love to come back here and just feel the waves and the touch of the bright sun.

‘Till next time then.
Ciao!
